What happens to your digital life when you die?

My father passed away recently and it has made me think about many things. Among the many topics you might imagine, one very practical area of concern, but perhaps not so critical is wondering what happens to our online presence? Everything from email accounts to social sites can become troublesome for loved ones to deal with. First step, create a mechanism to pass along your passwords. I’ve happened upon some articles that may provide some useful information about tools and methods to ease the process for others after you pass on.

Techhive recently covered a new tool from Google called Inactive Account Manager.

Lifehacker has a very thorough article about how to prepare for the inevitable. It includes all the legal and financial advice one would expect in addition to tips for preparing your digital life.

I am having a hard time reading through the article in its entirety, but perhaps I will soon.
